My grandfather was an eclectic art dealer who had among other oddities a collection of Hitler photo's, one of which was Hitler eating a plate of bacon.

My father was a crackpot inventor who spent a year of his life devoted to bacon-related apparatus and process. For example, he crafted a bacon centrifuge that was supposed to eliminate the curl when frying. Also, he distilled essence of Bacon in liquid form, adding it to various foods. He also added it to laundry detergent which made our cloths smell not of bacon, but of chimney smoke.

My first memory of bacon is sitting at home when I was 3, dipping bacon in chocolate milk to cool it down. I still do it now 30 years later.

I remember smelling bacon. Then as I approached the kitchen, I could hear the sizzle and pop.
When I got nearer the stove, I was shooed away and told that it was dangerous because of the grease popping. It was so exciting, because it smelled so good and had this dangerous element with noisy fanfare.
We ate the bacon with biscuits, and dipped it in peanut butter mashed together with some maple syrup. So salty, so sweet.

My first is elementary school, in the mornings at my grandma's house right before I went to school. Two pieces of bacon, toast and jelly every morning.
